Secretary General: Teresa Yang

Ms. Teresa Yang joined the Taiwan M&A and Private Equity Council (MAPECT) as Secretary General at its inception in September 2009.  Teresa strives towards assisting Taiwanese enterprises achieve their highest potential through M&A and private equity capital channels and helping businesses access domestic, mainland Chinese, and international financial resources.  Her work in building cross-strait business relationships is aimed at helping the Taiwanese economy access the growing Chinese market in ways that are advantageous to all parties, including industry players, governments, and the general public.

Teresa’s 22 years in the financial industry include extensive experience in M&A and private equity, starting from 1998 when she joined PriceWaterhouseCoopers Taiwan, where she worked in tax planning and domestic and international M&A services.  At PWC, she worked on various successful M&A deals and was also responsible for planning cooperative agreements between Taiwanese venture capital companies and various large American venture capital funds. In 1991, Teresa was hired to help set up the Taiwan Venture Capital Association (TVCA), consulting for the Taiwanese government on venture capital policy and private sector development. She worked tirelessly for the rights and interests of Taiwanese venture capitalists and helped ensure the continuous development of the domestic venture capital industry.

Around 2000, Teresa began to put considerable efforts into encouraging Taiwanese industries that were familiar with venture capital, to consider M&A and private equity as a business option as well. It is her vision of expanding and promoting the Taiwanese market through M&A and private equity that motivates her to lead MAPECT today as Secretary General.
