TAIPEI –  Taishin Financial Holding Co. (2887.TW) is in exclusive talks to buy New York Life Insurance Co.'s Taiwan unit, the Economic Daily News reported, Monday citing an unnamed source.

The report said the unit is unprofitable and needs to raise funds to replenish its reserve capital.
